Sustainability in the Furniture Industry

We attended the "Sustainability in the Furniture Sector" seminar held at EIB. The seminar, led by moderators Derya Irkdaş Doğu and Argun Tanrıverdi from Izmir University of Economics, addressed the sustainability and green consensus issues in the sector.

Sustainability in the furniture industry comes to the fore with both its environmental and social impacts. It is of great importance that the materials used in the industry minimize the consumption of natural resources and reduce the carbon footprint of production processes.

The green deal is an important strategy that brings stakeholders in the industry together to achieve environmental goals. Sustainable materials and production methods play a critical role. Carbon footprint is reduced through methods such as waste management, recycling and reuse.

In the very near future, product passports will become mandatory for products and all carbon emissions from production to transportation will be visible. It is even more important for companies to comply with the necessary processes.

This seminar helped us increase our awareness of sustainability in the furniture industry and gain new perspectives. We will continue to follow developments in this regard and take useful steps in practice in the future.
